Which Bivvy: Initial Thoughts
Having recently purchased the Trakker Tempest 150 Bivvy Aquatexx EV, I was eager to test it out and see if it lives up to its reputation.
As soon as I opened the box, I was impressed with the revolutionary patented design, its extremely quick and easy assembly process, and the Adaptive Ventilation® technology – all of which are essential features for a serious carp angler.

The Aquatexx EV™ fabric is super-waterproof, breathable, and hydrophobic. I was also impressed with the advanced GRP composite block, which is lightweight, super strong, and fatigue-resistant. The dual rod straps, tension straps, T-pegs, two 36-inch quick sticks, removable infill panels, and heavy-duty groundsheet are also great additions.
For extra protection, you can buy the Trakker Tempest 150 Bivvy Skull Cap and Bivvy Skull Cap Wrap separately.
Overall, I am very impressed with the Trakker Tempest 150 Bivvy. It’s easy to assemble, lightweight and packed with essential features, making it a great choice for any carp angler.
On The Bank
I used the Trakker SLX 150 a few months back, and I can recall what an excellent bivvy it was! One thing I can recommend here is that if you prefer to place your chair inside the front, then opt for the two-man option because the one-man SLX doesn’t offer much free space.

The dimensions of the one-man model are 130cm high, 280cm across, and 225cm front to back. The specifications of the two-man model are 140cm high, 300cm across, and 260cm front to back. As you can see, there is a lot more room in the two-man model.
A key feature I found useful is that both SLX bivvies include an inner capsule, which kept me warm through the night, even though it was pretty cold. You may even be able to avoid purchasing the overwrap (these are pretty expensive!)
The front of the bivvy looks impressive, with dual zipped doors, ties and side backs. You can also open her up to create that classic letterbox opening if you wish.

Other features that I liked include dual rod straps, a heavy-duty groundsheet, and a good-sized peak at the front to allow water to drain off correctly.
Weight isn’t an issue either, weighing in at 10.4kg (2-man version), but adding 3.2kg with the pegs etc.
Overall, a very impressive shelter that is priced just right here. Highly recommend this one!

Final Verdict: Should You Buy The Trakker SLX 150 Shelter?
Now in its third generation, and after a slight name change (100 and 150), the Trakker SLX continues to be a popular mid-range bivvy.
Ultra quick to set up, I liked that the SLX has a twin-skin inner capsule out of the box. A slight negative for me is the stitched-in groundsheet, which I like to remove.
The peak helps divert rainwater away down the sides and acts as a sun blocker in the summer. Fully dual zipped doors, which allow a letterbox-style opening, are also a plus.
This is a great bivvy with some great selling points—you just cannot go wrong with this shelter, no matter the weather conditions!
