Which Bivvy: Initial Thoughts
My initial thoughts on the Trakker Tempest 100T Brolly are overwhelmingly positive.
The revolutionary patented design is ultra-strong, easy to use and incredibly quick to assemble – it only takes a few minutes to put this shelter together. The advanced GRP composite block ensures that the brolly is lightweight, super-strong and fatigue resistant, and I love how it packs down to a much smaller size for easy transport.
I found the increased headroom and dual rod straps make it ideal for carp angling, and the anti-twist pole system ensures that it won’t collapse in strong winds. The 210D polyester material is durable and robust, making this brolly a great long-term investment.
The supplied tension strap carry bag and T-pegs make it easy to transport and set up, and the optional add-ons (Tempest Brolly 100T Full Infill Panel, Tempest Brolly 100T Insect Panel and Tempest Brolly 100T Skull Cap Wrap) allow you to customise your shelter depending on the weather conditions, or time of year.
All-in-all, the Trakker Tempest 100T Brolly is an excellent choice for carp anglers looking for a reliable, high-quality brolly!
On The Bank
I haven’t tried out a brolly for a while, so I was quite excited to take a look at the Trakker Tempest 100T Brolly!
With Trakker stating the ‘T’ stands for tall, I would assume this was a decent height, so a quick look at the specs shows an impressive 1.5m, which I’ve found is pretty decent for a brolly.
For comparison:
Brolly | Height |
---|---|
Trakker Tempest 100T | 150cm |
Fox R-Series Brolly | 128cm |
Wychwood Tactical Brolly | 120cm |
Fox Easy Brolly | 120cm |
Avid Carp HQ Dual Layer Brolly | 140cm |
JRC Rova Oval Brolly | 135cm |
This increased head height offers a much better view of the lake. Anyway, as with most Trakker shelters, I had the brolly setup quickly (loved the anti-twist poles) due to the improved block design. You simply pick it up, fan it out and pull it down on the support pole to lock everything into place.
Next, I’ll take you through the key features and my impressions.
It looks very spacious, but I would suggest that the way the rear is shaped means that I would place larger tackle bags to the back, and keep your bedchair closer to the front to maximise space.
Two large rear vents can be rolled back to reveal mozzi mesh panels. These keep the air flowing and ventilation seemed good through the night. There wasn’t much condensation by the morning, which is always a good sign!
During the day, I like to let my shelter air out, so I unrolled both vents and enjoyed the views these provided.
Standard features these days include two-rod straps to support rods not inaction, or changing rigs.
Overall, one of the best brollies I have had the pleasure of using. Being a tall chap, I appreciated the extra headroom this shelter provided.
