Fox Voyager 2 Man Bivvy

Fox’s Voyager range replaced the old R series a while back, and this 2 Man is the big brother of the pair, built for anglers who want proper standing room and space for two without compromising on weather protection.

It’s a three rib pram hood design, which sounds technical but really just means the shape steps forward at the front to maximise usable floor space rather than tapering away, so you’re not losing headroom the moment you sit forward on your bedchair.

That extra rib over the 1 Man version pays off in a big way. At 185cm at its highest point, you can properly stand up inside this thing, which is a genuine luxury during a multi day session when you’re fed up of crouching to get changed or cook.

Combined with 330cm width and 315cm depth, there’s acres of room for two full sleep systems, a bivvy table, and all the usual clutter that builds up over a long stay without anyone feeling like they’re living in each other’s pockets.

Setup uses a rigid 19mm aluminium frame with full frame support, and Fox have clearly put some thought into the leg assembly alignment, it goes together noticeably more smoothly than the old R series ever did, though with a bivvy this size you’re still looking at a proper ten to fifteen minute job rather than a quick erect pitch.

Worth knowing before you buy if speed is your priority.

The 10,000mm hydrostatic head khaki fabric is a sensible middle ground rating, tough enough for genuinely miserable UK weather without chasing the eye watering numbers of flagship shelters, and the oversized peak at the front does a great job of keeping both sun and rain off the doorway.

The two way letterbox door with its three interchangeable panels, mozzi mesh, clear PVC, and solid, gives you proper flexibility depending on conditions, and the large front and rear mesh panels keep air moving nicely through the warmer months.

Where this bivvy really shows its long-stay credentials is in the details.

Two rod straps at the front keep things tidy while you’re pottering about, the heavy-duty groundsheet and pegs are properly substantial rather than an afterthought, and the whole lot packs into an oversized heavy-duty carry bag that, while not small, is at least built to survive being dragged across a barrow for years.

The obvious trade off is weight. At 18.5kg this is not a bivvy you’re carrying far on your back, and it’s very much a barrow job for most swims. If you’re doing long walks to your peg regularly, this is worth factoring in heavily before you commit.

But for anglers who fish from a set swim or have decent access, that weight buys you a seriously robust, spacious, two man home from home.
