The 1 man bivvy market is where most carp anglers start and where a surprising number stay.
The 1 man bivvy market is where most carp anglers start and where a surprising number stay. Not because they cannot afford to upgrade, but because a well-chosen 1 man shelter does everything you actually need. The key is knowing what you are actually buying. Width, height, waterproofing and setup type vary enormously between shelters that are all technically called 1 man bivvies.

The Nash Titan Hide XL is our pick for most anglers. Fast to erect, genuinely light at 8.1kg and 10,000mm waterproofing that handles UK conditions properly. If you want the best waterproofing available in a 1 man quick-erect and budget allows, the Trakker Tempest RS 100 at 25,000mm Aquatexx is the benchmark at the top end of the market.
A 1 man bivvy varies enormously in footprint. The Fox Voyager at 295cm wide is significantly more spacious than the Fox Easy Shelter Plus at 240cm. If you fish with a large bedchair and lots of kit, width and depth matter as much as the 1 man label on the box.
A bivvy that looks cheaper can end up costing more once you buy the groundsheet, storm poles and carry bag separately. The Wychwood Epic Tactical Full System includes everything. The Fox Easy Shelter Plus includes nothing beyond the shelter itself. Factor the total cost in before comparing prices.
For fair weather and spring or summer sessions, 8,000 to 10,000mm is perfectly adequate. If you fish hard through winter or do extended stays in exposed locations, 20,000mm and above is worth paying for. The Trakker Tempest RS range at 25,000mm is the gold standard.
