The WhichBivvy Verdict

The Tempest Brolly 100T is Trakker’s iconic brolly system with one crucial upgrade – the ‘T’ stands for Tall, and that extra height transforms the experience.

At 150cm external height, you can actually sit upright on your bedchair without feeling like you’re fishing from inside a letterbox. That alone makes it a significant step up from the older Tempest Brolly 100, and it gives you a far better view of the water from inside the shelter which is something that matters more than most anglers realise until they have it.

The patented GRP composite block system is the star of the show. It makes setup genuinely quick and we are talking minutes, not the wrestling match you get with some pole-and-frame designs. The anti-twist poles slot into place without drama, and the whole thing feels solid once pegged down with the included tension strap.

At just 6kg for the brolly alone, it is one of the lightest shelters in its class. The trade-off is the 210D polyester fabric with a 5,000mm hydrostatic head – perfectly adequate for most UK sessions, but not the heavy-duty Aquatexx you get on the pricier RS models. We also recommend that you re-proof it annually.

The modular approach is both a strength and a potential wallet trap. The base brolly is open-fronted, so you will almost certainly want the infill panel for anything beyond a summer day session.

Add the skull cap, groundsheet, and mosquito panel, and you have a fully enclosed system, but the total cost climbs well beyond the base price. Factor that in before you buy.

Pros & Cons

What we like

  • Setup is genuinely quick — the patented GRP composite block slots together in minutes with no fuss.
  • At 6kg it is one of the lightest shelters you can buy, making it a dream for mobile anglers and long walks to the swim.
  • The 150cm height ('T' for Tall) lets you sit upright on a bedchair and gives a much better view of the water.
  • Twin rear vents provide decent airflow and help reduce condensation on warmer sessions.
  • The modular system means you can start with the base brolly and add infill panels, skull cap, groundsheet, and mosquito panel as your budget allows.
  • Anti-twist pole system and dual rod straps are thoughtful touches that show Trakker understands bankside life.
  • Transport size of 120cm × 20cm fits easily on a barrow or across a car boot.

Watch out for

  • The 5,000mm hydrostatic head is on the lower end — fine for most sessions but you will want to re-proof it at least once a year.
  • The base brolly is open-fronted with no infill panel included, so budget for the full infill panel as an essential extra.
  • Buying all the optional extras (infill, skull cap, groundsheet, mozzy panel) pushes the total cost significantly higher than the base price.
  • 210D polyester is lighter and thinner than the Aquatexx EV fabric on premium Trakker models — it will not feel as robust.
  • No integrated peak or rain gutter on the base model, which some competitors now include as standard.
  • Storm poles are not included and must be purchased separately (Trakker recommends 48-inch Quicksticks).

Frequently Asked Questions

What Does The 'T' Stand For In The Trakker Tempest Brolly 100t?
The T stands for Tall. Trakker added 25cm of extra headroom compared to the standard Tempest Brolly 100, bringing the external height up to 150cm (145cm internal). This makes a real difference when you are sat on your bedchair and you can sit fully upright without hunching, and you get a much better view of the water through the open front. The width and depth remain similar to the standard model, so it fits the same swims, you just get more vertical space to live in.
Is The Trakker Tempest Brolly 100t Waterproof Enough For Uk Fishing?
The standard 210D polyester version has a 5,000mm hydrostatic head, which is adequate for the majority of UK sessions. It will handle a steady downpour without issue, but it is not in the same league as the 10,000mm or 25,000mm fabrics on Trakker's premium shelters. The key is maintenance so re-proof the fabric at least once a year with a spray-on reproofing treatment, and you will extend its life and performance significantly. If you regularly fish through the worst of winter and need bombproof waterproofing, consider the Aquatexx EV version or step up to the Tempest RS range.
Does The Tempest Brolly 100t Come With A Groundsheet And Front Panel?
No, and this is important to understand before you buy. The base brolly is an open-fronted shelter supplied with the brolly itself, tension strap, T-pegs, and a carry bag. The infill panel, groundsheet, skull cap, and mosquito panel are all sold separately. Most anglers will want the full infill panel at minimum, so factor that cost into your budget. The good news is that the groundsheet and skull cap from the older Tempest Brolly 100 are also compatible, so if you are upgrading you can reuse those accessories.
How Heavy Is The Trakker Tempest Brolly 100t And What Does It Pack Down To?
The brolly alone weighs approximately 6kg, with the included T-pegs adding another 0.85kg so around 6.85kg total for the base setup. That makes it one of the lightest one-man shelters on the market and a genuine option for anglers who walk long distances to their swims. The transport size is approximately 120cm × 20cm, which sits neatly across a barrow or in the boot of most cars. Add the groundsheet and infill panel and the total weight climbs, but even fully loaded it remains lighter than most pole-and-frame bivvies.
Can I Use The Tempest Brolly 100 Accessories On The 100t?
Partially. The groundsheet (product code 202259) and skull cap (202254) from the standard Tempest Brolly 100 are compatible with the 100T. However, the infill panel and insect panel are not interchangeable because the 100T is taller so you need the specific 100T versions (202273 for the infill, 202272 for the insect panel). Always check the product codes before purchasing to make sure you are buying the correct version for your shelter.
What Storm Poles Does Trakker Recommend For The Tempest Brolly 100t?
Trakker recommends their 48-inch Quicksticks as the best compatible storm poles for this shelter. These are not included with the brolly and need to be purchased separately. Storm poles are not strictly essential for calm conditions, but they add significant stability in wind and are well worth the investment if you fish exposed venues or through the colder months when weather can turn quickly.
