The WhichBivvy Verdict

The SLX V3 150 is Trakker’s answer to those who want a proper twin-skin system without the premium price tag of their top-tier shelters.

It is a solid, no-nonsense pram-hood design that does exactly what it says on the tin. The standout feature here is the fully enclosed inner capsule with a stitched-in groundsheet, which essentially creates a sealed bunker that keeps the bugs and the damp out, making those damp autumn sessions significantly more palatable.

With a 10,000mm hydrostatic head, it handles British rain with ease. The rear vent is a welcome touch for those humid summer nights when you would otherwise be sweating it out in a nylon oven.

It is not the fastest bivvy to set up, and it’s certainly not the smallest, but for the money, it provides a level of comfort and protection that is hard to grumble at.

Pros & Cons

What we like

  • The fully enclosed inner capsule is a massive win for pest protection and warmth.
  • 10,000mm Hydrostatic Head fabric offers excellent weatherproofing for the price point.
  • Rear vent provides decent airflow to stop condensation buildup.
  • Dual-zipped doors allow for a letterbox style opening if you want to keep the rain out while watching the water.
  • Peaked front design provides essential rain protection over the door.
  • It is an affordable twin-skin setup that punches well above its weight.

Watch out for

  • The setup time is slower compared to the newer quick-erect designs on the market.
  • Total system weight including pegs and groundsheet is closer to 13.6kg, not the 10.4kg base.
  • Packed size is a bit bulky at 110cm long for the modern mobile angler.
  • The groundsheet is stitched into the capsule, which can make cleaning a bit of a faff.
  • No peak as large as the Titan Pro series, so you lose a bit of sheltered entrance space.

Should You Buy This Bivvy?

Buy it if...

  • You want a fully enclosed twin-skin system that provides maximum protection from the elements.
  • You are on a budget but refuse to compromise on build quality and weather resistance.
  • You fish longer sessions where the comfort of an inner capsule is worth the extra setup time.
  • You want a tried and tested design from a brand with a rock-solid reputation.

Look elsewhere if...

  • You are a mobile angler who needs to move swims at the drop of a hat.
  • You hate the faff of a pole and frame setup and want an instant shelter.
  • You need the absolute maximum height—the 145cm headroom is plenty, but not "stand-up" height.
  • You are tight on transport space and need a compact pack-down size.
