The WhichBivvy Verdict

The Tempest RS 100 is what happens when Trakker takes their already excellent Tempest range and asks "what if we made it properly bombproof?"

The answer is 25,000mm Aquatexx fabric, a Rapid Knuckle System for even faster assembly than the standard Tempest, and a blackout pigment that keeps the sun out when you are trying to grab a few hours after a busy night. This is a serious bit of kit for serious anglers.

The Adaptive Ventilation system genuinely works - condensation has always been the Achilles heel of quick-erect shelters and Trakker have put real engineering into solving it. The vent covers can be pegged fully open using the optional Cool Guys guy ropes, turning the RS into a remarkably airy summer shelter as well as a winter weapon.

It comes well equipped out of the box - groundsheet, clear window, two Quicksticks, T-pegs and an oversized NXG carry bag. The built-in Skull Cap mounts are a nice touch, making the already excellent RS even more adaptable to changing conditions without faffing around.

At 9.4kg bivvy-only weight it is not the lightest quick-erect on the market, but what you get for that weight is outstanding. If you fish hard and want a shelter that will never let you down, the RS 100 should be at the top of your shortlist.

Pros & Cons

What we like

  • 25,000mm Aquatexx fabric is among the highest waterproofing ratings on the market
  • Blackout pigment reduces light and heat ingress for better daytime sleep
  • Adaptive Ventilation system reduces condensation more effectively than standard quick-erects
  • Rapid Knuckle System makes assembly even faster than the standard Tempest range
  • Groundsheet, clear window and Quicksticks included in the box
  • Built-in Skull Cap mounts add versatility without extra faff
  • Four internal mesh pockets and two hanging points - proper storage for long sessions

Watch out for

  • 14.6kg total weight with pegs and bag makes this a barrow bivvy for most anglers
  • At this price point it is a serious investment - cheaper quick-erects do a solid job for occasional use
  • Compatible accessories (Skull Cap, Insect Panel, Inner Capsule) are all sold separately and add up quickly
  • The 129cm packed length is longer than some alternatives — check your barrow bag dimensions

Should You Buy This Bivvy?

Buy it if...

  • You fish long sessions in all weathers and want the most waterproof quick-erect shelter available
  • You struggle with condensation in standard shelters - the Adaptive Ventilation system is genuinely the best solution on the market
  • You want a bivvy with serious accessory compatibility including Skull Cap, Insect Panel and Social Cap for different conditions
  • You fish year-round and need one shelter that handles a scorching July and a freezing November equally well
  • You want a proper quick-erect with no compromises — this is the top of the quick-erect food chain

Look elsewhere if...

  • Budget is a concern — there are capable quick-erects available for a fraction of the price
  • You fish short mobile sessions and do not need 25,000mm waterproofing for a few hours on the bank
  • You want the lightest possible option — at 9.4kg bivvy-only there are lighter alternatives
  • You rarely fish in bad weather — the Tempest RS is built for conditions most anglers rarely encounter
  • You are new to carp fishing and not sure how often you will use it — buy something simpler first
