The WhichBivvy Verdict

The Fox Voyager is what happens when Fox looks at the R Series and asks whether they can give anglers most of what makes it great for considerably less outlay. The answer turns out to be yes.

The 165cm of headroom is the headline number and it earns that reputation instantly. You can sit fully upright on your bedchair, swing your legs out and stand up without crouching. After a long night on the bank that matters more than you might think before you have tried it.

The two-rib pram hood design with 19mm aluminium frame is noticeably more rigid than similarly priced alternatives. The oversized peak keeps the entrance drier than a standard pram hood in sustained rain, and the three door options - solid, clear PVC and mozzy mesh - give you genuine flexibility across the seasons.

The front can be fully rolled back on warm nights to turn the Voyager into an open-fronted shelter, which is a genuinely useful option in summer that most pram hoods do not offer.

At 295cm wide and 235cm deep there is serious internal space for one angler. The heavy-duty clip-in groundsheet, pegs and oversized carry bag are all included. An inner dome is available separately via O-ring connections on the inside, and a dedicated overwrap turns it into a proper winter shelter when the temperature drops.

Pros & Cons

What we like

  • 165cm of headroom is genuinely exceptional for a 1 man pram hood at this price
  • 295cm wide by 235cm deep gives serious internal space for bedchair and all your kit
  • Three door options included - solid, clear PVC and mozzy mesh
  • Front rolls back fully to create an open-fronted shelter in summer
  • 19mm rigid aluminium frame is noticeably more robust than similarly priced alternatives
  • Inner dome and overwrap available separately for year-round versatility
  • Heavy-duty clip-in groundsheet and pegs included in the box
  • Outstanding value for a pram hood with this level of specification

Watch out for

  • 13.5kg means this is a barrow option for most anglers
  • 10,000mm hydrostatic head is adequate but not class-leading for extended winter use
  • Inner dome and overwrap are both sold separately which adds to the total cost
  • Pole and frame setup takes longer than quick-erect designs
  • Not available in camo - khaki only

Should You Buy This Bivvy?

Buy it if...

  • You want 165cm of headroom in a 1 man pram hood without spending Frontier money
  • You do longer sessions and need proper internal space to live comfortably for a few days
  • You want three door options included so you are covered in any season
  • You fish from a barrow or drive-in swim where 13.5kg is manageable
  • You want a solid pram hood with a genuine accessory ecosystem at a mid-range price

Look elsewhere if...

  • You need to carry your kit any distance - at 13.5kg this needs a barrow
  • You want a quick-erect system - the Voyager is a traditional pole and frame setup
  • You fish hard through winter and need more than 10,000mm waterproofing as standard
  • You want camo pattern for waters with strict colour rules
  • You want a budget option - the Fox EOS MK2 delivers decent performance for less
