The WhichBivvy Verdict

If the RS 100 is the benchmark one-man quick-erect, the RS 200 is the benchmark two-man.

Everything that makes the RS range special- the Rapid Knuckle System, Aquatexx fabric with 25,000mm hydrostatic head, blackout pigment, Adaptive Ventilation - is here in a shelter that measures 390cm wide and 295cm deep. That is a serious amount of space by any standard.

The five-pole Rapid Knuckle System means both anglers can be under cover in genuinely under a minute, which matters more than people think when a storm rolls in at 2am.

The six Adaptive Ventilation vents - four at the rear, two at the front - handle condensation better than any other quick-erect we have tested, and on warm nights the rear vents can be pegged fully open with Cool Guys to drop the internal temperature noticeably.

The flatter rear design compared to earlier Tempest models is a genuine improvement. It maximises internal storage space and makes the RS 200 easier to fit into tighter swims than you would expect from a shelter this wide. The 175cm of headroom means most anglers can stand up properly inside which is a small thing that makes a big difference on a long session.

At 13.8kg bivvy-only and 20.2kg total with pegs, Quicksticks and carry bag, you need a barrow. But if you have a barrow, there is very little left to want!

Pros & Cons

What we like

  • 25,000mm Aquatexx waterproofing is as good as it gets on any quick-erect shelter
  • 390cm wide by 295cm deep gives proper two-man space with room for all your kit
  • 175cm of headroom means most anglers can stand up inside
  • Rapid Knuckle System locks all five poles in one action - up in under a minute
  • Six Adaptive Ventilation vents reduce condensation better than any comparable shelter
  • Blackout pigment means you can actually sleep past 5am in summer
  • Groundsheet, clear window, two Quicksticks and T-pegs all included
  • Comprehensive accessory range including Skull Cap, Insect Panel, Inner Capsule and Social Cap

Watch out for

  • 20.2kg total packed weight makes this a barrow-only option for most anglers
  • At close to £1000 it is a serious investment - not for the occasional angler
  • Transport size of 163cm x 25cm needs a large barrow bag - check compatibility before buying
  • Skull Cap, Insect Panel, Inner Capsule and Social Cap are all sold separately and add significantly to the total cost
  • Overkill for solo anglers who do not need 390cm of width

Should You Buy This Bivvy?

Buy it if...

  • You fish with a partner and want a proper two-man quick-erect with the best waterproofing on the market
  • You do long sessions and need serious space for two full sleep systems and all your gear
  • You want 175cm of headroom - being able to stand up inside makes a genuine difference on longer stays
  • You want a shelter system with a comprehensive accessory range for all four seasons
  • You fish hard through winter and need 25,000mm waterproofing as standard rather than as an afterthought

Look elsewhere if...

  • Budget is a concern -- there are capable two-man options available for a fraction of the price
  • You fish solo and do not need 390cm of width
  • You need to carry your kit any distance - at 20.2kg total this is strictly a barrow or drive-in option
  • You want a fully enclosed twin-skin setup as standard -- the RS 200 requires separately purchased accessories for that
  • You are new to carp fishing and not yet sure how often you will use a shelter this size
